VIP weekend celebrates the unveiling of Giorgio's in Chesterfield
A World Cup refereeing legend, an internationally renowned pop star and the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Chesterfield joined forces to help unveil the town's newest culinary experience recently.
Scores of VIPs packed into the new Giorgio's Italian on Sheffield Road to see Howard Webb, who has just retired after 25 years of officiating, formally open the venue along with Councillor Alexis Diouf and Mrs Vickey-Anne Diouf, the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Chesterfield.
Guests included pop legend Marco Pironni - renowned guitarist of '80s legends Adam & The Ants and an acclaimed song writer in his own right.
The eagerly awaited eatery, which has been taking shape over the past few weeks on Sheffield Road in the Whittington Moor area, boasts one of the only wood burning pizza oven in the region.
Much of the interior of Giorgio's has been hand-painted by celebrated local artist Paul Staveley who was recently commissioned to transform one of the biggest venues of its type in Sheffield - the renowned Cubana tapas bar/restaurant which recently moved to the city centre's Leopold Square.
Giorgio's is the brainchild of Dronfield-based Steve Zsirai who made his name at the renowned Viva Tequila restaurant in Gleadless, Sheffield.
He said: "The reaction to our opening weekend was fantastic and I'm confident Chesterfield really will have seen nothing like Giorgio's. The interior is truly breathtaking and, as well as the wood burning pizza oven, we've installed a bar area where diners can relax before and after their meals. Whittington Moor is an up-and-coming area and I'm confident that Giorgio's can be a new chapter in its exciting development."
Giorgios' is situated at 427-429 Sheffield Rd, Chesterfield S41 8LT. Bookings can be made on 01246 455 245.
